Let’s just appreciate Lana’s hand

I love her change of expression. It goes from “OH MY FUCKING GOD SHE’S TOUCHING ME GET IT OFF” to “Weelllll, ok this is kind of nice I guess…Mmmm…” in 3 seconds.

Tbh, I wouldn’t mind if Kathryn came back as Regina’s endgame love interest. My joint OTPs for her will always be Swan Queen and Red Queen, but realistically, this could work. This could work really, really well.

Same here.
Also, Kathryn is the only person Regina hurt whom I honestly feel bad for.
Kathryn/Abigail was actually a decent human being (and not just because we are told so) who liked and trusted Regina.
Yet, in a weird way, I can see Kathryn forgiving Regina for what she did.
“Kathryn—Abigail—I’m sorry I tried to have you killed. I’m sorry I had Sidney abduct you. If I had to do it over again, I would’ve done it to someone else. Wait, no, that’s not what I meant. Um…”
“No, no, I get it. You’ll get used to doing the right thing. In the meantime, I have a list.”
“A list?”
“Things you can do to make it up to me. I know the whole being good thing isn’t something you’re used to, so I wrote these down to make it easier.”
“I, uh, thanks. ‘Friends do not plot to have friends murdered or kidnapped’?”
“Gotta start somewhere.”

Once Upon A Time has always maintained a rather funny concept of good and evil. This is a show where pragmatism is a negative trait and optimism a good one. Where the good always win, princesses talks to birds and true love’s kiss cures all. Good is absolute. A werewolf who is innately good will always be forgiven–even when she eats her boyfriend. A man who kills a child’s parents can spend a few years as a bug and become everyone’s favorite wise man. And the truest of true love couples in town can both have affairs while under a curse and let it go in as soon as the curse is lifted.

There is no pathos for our heroes outside of the external. They do not wrestle with themselves or make bad decisions. They’re “good” and thus free of many of the struggles most people face. And because of those struggles Regina is evil. She’s a victim of circumstances, an abusive household, and a manipulative old man. She has in herself a desire to be good but an addictive personality and some bad choices early on slotted her as evil and it seems that no matter what she does she’ll always be that Evil Queen.

This is all what i’ve criticized. This double standard really, really shouldn’t be. How is it that people who are “good” are allowed to make bad choices, are allowed to kill, to use violence and their actions are excused because they are “good” but a good and innocent girl who was manipulated into being the Evil Queen and yes, made bad choices and killed and used violence and manipulation is just “evil” and will always be seen as such no matter what she does and no matter how hard she tries to be good and actually do the right thing.

  • Rumpelstiltskin:

Assumed higher power to achieve superobjective (The DARK One), killed people, lied, manipulated people with magic, ruined peoples' lives for his own agenda, unwittingly hurt his son, still does misguided things. Motivation--he only wanted to protect his son and then get him back when he lost him

  • ^^^Redeemable

  • Regina:

Assumed higher power to achieve superobjective (The EVIL Queen), killed people, lied, manipulated people with magic, ruined peoples' lives for her own agenda, unwittingly hurt her son, still does misguided things. Motivation--she only wanted to find happiness in a healthy love that only one person (who was killed in front of her) ever gave her

  • ^^^NOT redeemable

  • Okay, fandom. I understand your logic. That's great. That's just...yeah.
